The Men's 1st Team got to the Quarter-finals before losing a tough match away to Trim 1, just missing out on promotion to Class 2. The Men's 2nd Team just missed out on the play-offs with a final week defeat, so remain in Class 4. The Men's 3rd Team also reached the Quarter-finals before losing a close match away to Ratoath 1, but secured promotion to Class 5 for next year. The Men's 4th Team had a tough group and didn't reach the play-offs, so remain in Class 7 for next year.
The Ladies 1st Team lost in the first round of the play-offs, missing out on promotion as a result, and remaining in Class 4 for another year. The Ladies 2nd Team missed out on the play-offs, but achieved mid table security and remain in Class 6. The Ladies 3rd Team had a tough campaign and will remain in Class 7 for next year.
Three men's and two ladies teams were entered. How they are getting on is posted below. Best of luck to everyone still involved.
Men's 1st Team:
The Men's 1st Team came second in their section and had an away match on Wednesday 17th June at 7.30pm against Skerries 1. They won a close battle 3-2 and next played away against Greystones 2 on Saturday 20th June at 2pm in a promotional play-off. A tight contest was lost 3-2 unfortunately, but well done to all involved.
Men's 2nd Team:
The Men's 2nd Team won their section with a maximum 25 out of 25 points and had a promotional play-off match at home on Wednesday 17th June against Sandycove 5 at 7pm, which they won 3-0, securing promotion for next year. They next played away against Laytown/Bettystown 2 on Saturday 20th June at 2pm. They were unlucky to lose 3-2, but well done to all involved on achieving promotion for next year.
Men's 3rd Team:
The Men's 3rd Team won their section and had a promotional play-off match at home to Sutton on 6 Wednesday 17th June at 8.15pm. They won that match 3-1 to secure promotion for next year and next played away against Stratford 3 on Saturday 20th June at 2pm. They won that match 4-1. Their Semi-final was at home to Sandycove 8 on Wednesday 24 June at 7.30pm. They won that match 4-0 and are now into the Summer League Final which was held on Saturday 27 June, at 3.30pm against Stratford 2 in Templeogue. LCC lost a tough battle 3-1, all 3 losses being in 3 hard sets (LCC were up in the 3rd set in the final match which was not completed). Well done to everyone on reaching the final and getting promoted.
Ladies 1st Team:
The Ladies 1st Team finished second in their section and had a play-off match away to Brookfield 2 at 7.30pm on Tuesday 16th June. The ladies were unlucky and lost 3-2 in a tight contest.
Ladies 2nd Team:
The Ladies 2nd Team were very unlucky and just missed out on the play-offs.
Summer League 2008:
This year the Men's 1st Team made the play-offs, but were unlucky to lose in the first round. The Men's 2nd were unfortunate to miss out on the play-offs by 1 point. The Ladies 1st and 2nd Teams were relegated from their respective classes and will be looking to make quick comebacks next year. The Ladies 3rd Team finished mid table having been drawn in a very strong group.
