JUNIOR TENNIS
LCC-Brookfield Juniors Biannual Challenge: May 2008, won by LCC for the first time. We look forward to defending our title after the summer break, and well done to all our juniors who did so well to win.
LCC juniors did very well at the Dublin Parks Tennis recently, in particular the Shaw family - Tiernan won his event and sister Maeve received a medal for achievement. Congratulations to you both!
Despite some awful weather since Christmas, Friday afternoon tennis has continued under the brave supervision of David O’Grady and John Byrne. Now that winter appears (finally) to be receding, we have quite a few plans for the juniors of all standards:
Under 12s League: LCC has entered a team in the Under 12s league for the first time. The team, consisting of 3 boys and 3 girls, will played on Sunday afternoons during April and did very well for their first time out!
Coaching Sessions for Experienced Players: These are intensive coaching sessions with David O’Grady on Wednesdays at 2.30 to 4. They will commence on Wednesday April 2nd and the fee for 8 weeks will be €70.00 Numbers will be limited to 6 players.
Practice Sessions for Experienced Players: Starting on Saturday 5th April, these sessions are aimed at “older” juniors who are interested in seriously developing their skills. They will be held on Saturdays from 4pm to 5.30pm and will consist of about 45 minutes of practice and drills followed by 45 minutes of singles/doubles. The sessions will be supervised by senior members and are free. Number limit is 24 on a first-come first-registered basis
Saturday Morning Supervised Tennis: Supervised tennis with Ian Murphy will start again at 11am – 1pm on Saturday 5th. These sessions are intended mainly for the younger players and there will be a fee of €50.00 for the term.
Junior Social Nights: So far, we have had a quiz, a race night, a film night and we are planning a bingo evening in the near future! More information to follow.
Summer Morning Supervised Tennis: Supervised tennis in the mornings during the summer holidays, which was so successful last year, will take place again this year. More details nearer the time.
